Just been working on a weekly meal planner to get myself organised :) cant wait til its done so i can go fooood shoppping! and then the dreaded cooking ;)
I've found this to be the only way to keep variety in the diet, while also managing to stick to a healthy eating commitment and not buckling for the easy option at the supermarket/fast food place. it's also a good idea if you can to cook and freeze as many meals as possible on a set day and then just grab out of the freezer when needed.
It's important to break up your meals into 6 smaller portions. In my opinion there is no set size for your portions per person that can really be determined, only rough guides, as long as you're eating healthy and exercising your body will start changing for the better. If you're only easing your way into things (which is probably a good idea for beginners) don't overload yourself with too much info that it becomes too hard to continue, you'll just fall back into a rut. JUST EAT HEALTHY, 6 TIMES A DAY! It's important to always have protein (meat), greens, and of course some carbs as these are where your energy should come from. Limit your fats by avoiding frying. Sorry guys, i know it'll hurt. Once you get into the habit of eating healthy in 6 meals a day you'll realise when your hungry, and how much your body requires. You'll learn to listen to your body and figure out exactly what your body needs.
Anyway, thats all for today. I'll do a proper write up with more info on eating another day.

It's time to begin...
Hey, I'm Kate. I decided to start this blog to track my progress after recently discovering a passion for fitness & health. To be honest, I always sort of new I had it in me but lacked the confidence to go anywhere with it.
To give you a brief history, I was always the skinny lanky girl at school who could eat like a grot and it'd go no where... Because of that, I never gave a damn what I ate which meant I didn't have the healthiest diet. I got picked out and bullied in primary school for my looks, and in high school got the name 'betty spaghetti' because obviously i looked like betty spaghetti to some people (gee thanks!). I never took part in sports at school for fear of being made fun of if i stuffed up, as much as I always wanted to.
After I left school I eventually got up the courage to join a gym because I wanted to keep active and had heard about this mysterious toning business where I could define my dwindly little toothpick arms and legs into something that somewhat resembled a human arm (was pretty stoked at this point)..
I got into the gym a bit but without seeing progress within a couple months went off it and didn't go for about a year. After having a bad break up I partied two nights every weekend for a couple months, binge drinking pretty much every single time. What sparked the change in me was meeting someone very special who became a great influence in my life, my now boyfriend Josh (Jan 2011). I realised I had to do something with my life other than waste my body and money on things that at the end of the day would not benefit me in anyway. I finally had a good look in the mirror and realised that I couldn't keep treating my body so disrespectfully filling it with rubbish and not doing any exercise, I started to dislike what I saw in the mirror because it was no longer the skinny minny I once saw. Sure, I was still skinny but I noticed the problem areas where weight was starting to creep onto me, and I did NOT like it, nor did I want the issue to become any worse. It took me until May 2011 til I got back into gym and started researching ways to get the body I wanted! Hear I am, ready to step it up to the next level and here to track my progress. I will be posting tips/tricks and anything else worth knowing here while also posting progress over the next 12 months.
Hope some people out there are keen to follow me in this journey and really hopeful it inspires others to do the same, whatever there goals may be!
